Oldest golden eagle dies

Oldest golden eagle dies

The oldest wild golden eagle in Britain has died on the Isle of Jura off the coast of Scotland.

The bird, which was tagged on the Isle of Mull in 1987 as still a chick, was 22 years old. The previous oldest known wild eagle was 16.

Its body was found on a beach North Jura by a member of the public, who reported it to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.

The RSPB Scotland said it believed the eagle, whose sex was unknown, died of natural causes and had lived its life in "relative peace".

Sad that this eagle has died. However, 22 years is a very good age and it seemed he enjoyed every moment.Thats what life is all about.

That is a good age for an eagle.
