UK ELECTION: KEEP HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE MIX
With the 2010 General Election taking place in less than a week, Amnesty needs your help to put human rights at the top of the political agenda. At the election parliament will undergo significant change – at least 151 MPs are standing down and many seats could change hands. With such a large number of new MPs coming into the House, it is vital that human rights remain in the picture.

I would like to know if AI intends to send observers to monitor the UK general election?
I would argue that the election would neither be free nor fair under Article 3 of the First Protocol of the European Convention.
The UK has ignored the ECtHR decision of Hirst v UK(No2), and subsequent Committee of Ministers warnings.
On 8 April 2010, the ECtHR re-emphasised its ruling in Hirst in Frodl v Austria. In this case, all convicted prisoners must get the vote.
