Council snoopers access 900 phone bills

Councils have used laws designed to combat terrorism to access more than 900 people's private phone and email records in the latest example of Britain's growing surveillance state.

There is something quite disturbing about bringing in laws to protect the public from the threat of terrorism, and then the State using the very same laws against the public whom it is claiming to seek to protect.

Its not really John, it is more an illustration of how poorly thought thru is the majority of legislation NuLabor have been pushing thru the Houses of Parliament.
All they have been looking at is the immediate headline grabbing impact of all these new laws.
Instead of sitting down for ten minutes and thinking it all thru to it's logical end.
Finally, it shows up how inadequately scrutinized all these "political" laws have been when they have been passing thru both Houses, and by all parties there.
All these councils are doing is using powers that have been probably inadvertently given to them by sloppy legislation!

Not sure about that, Barnacled One.
I think it is quite deliberate as a means to achieve a Brave New World Order where our every step is controllable and controlled.

The legislation may have been passed on the Nu-Lab watch, but other elements such as the Common Purpose grouping and BAPS are behind much of it is happening.
