The case of the cheeky neighbours and wasting police time
This afternoon, when I took Rocky for his afternoon walk, I popped in to see my friends who live on Salisbury Street. After recounting my tale about the Plod, I was treated to this little snippet of madness.
Kathleen received a phone call from the plod. She was told that they had received a complaint that her car was blocking access to a neighbour's driveway and that she must move her car. Kathleen explained that Salisbury Street is a row of terrace houses on both sides, and that none of the houses had driveways out front. The police said that they don't know anything about that, all they knew was that they had received the complaint and that she must move her car. Kathleen did as she was told and duly moved her car. Straight away the neighbour's came out and placed traffic cones across the space she had vacated, because they were expecting a delivery, and Kathleen then photographed the position. She sent a letter to plod with the photo enclosed, and asked whether they intended prosecuting the neighbour's for wasting police time?
I am puzzled why the neighbour did not merely ask politely if Kathleen wouldn't mind moving her car as they were expecting a delivery, and it would save the lorry blocking the road or the delivery men having to walk that little bit further with whatever they were delivering?
Perhaps, Kathleen is lucky that the neighbour did not lodge a complaint that Kathleen was invading their privacy by taking the photograph!
