A report into the suicide of a prisoner at Maghaberry jail has recommended disciplinary procedures against the governor and deputy governor.

Prison officers slept on a makeshift bed, watched TV, drank tea and smoked while ignoring a suicidal inmate who killed himself in a Northern Ireland jail, according to a damning report which called for the governor and his deputy to be subject to a disciplinary inquiry.

prison staff being held accountable for their actions?! That should revolutionise the penal system... And is that the deafening sound of silence i hear from the prison officers association? They never seem to be by a phone at times like this. Strange...
I think if the piece had been entitled "Report not critical of prison staff", I would have been surprised.
In this country, everyoney who wears a hat in connection with their day to day business is immune from prosecution.
