A mixture of law, politics, autobiography and humour. Once described as "The Devilish Advocate"
(Guardian), I do have the ability to provoke a response. Sometimes it comes from someone who uses a thought process, and sometimes from jerks usually associated with the knee.

What are Prisons for? What is their contribution to public safety and security?
Hello John. I hope you don't mind me messaging you on no doubt a subject that has brought your name to the papers in more ways than one. I wondered if you might comment on anything that comes to mind when you think of prisoner's right to vote. I have to tackle this question for a final piece of coursework and could not think of anyone better to ask than from the person at the very centre of the question. Thank you
