The law is an ass!

When I was in H.M. Prison Gartree, Leicestershire, in 1983, two of the Bridgewater Three, Vincent and Michael Hickey, were in the same prison. They were protesting their innocence. The details can be found here. They were eventually successful in winning their appeals against convictions after 12 years, and sought compensation for the wrongful imprisonment. They won an award, but the assessor had the cheek to deduct part of the award to pay for their upkeep whilst they were wrongfully imprisoned! They appealed against this decision and won. Then the assessor appealed against their appeal and won. Then they took their case to the House of Lords and lost. Bob Piper has this to say. And links to this. In my view, it is disgusting that these rich, toffee nosed bastards, are so imbecilic to reach such an unreasonable decision. They should be ashamed of themselves. I would not call it the House of Lords, but the House of Shame! I sincerely hope that Vincent and Michael now take the case to the European Court of Human Rights.
