If the police don't police aren't they already on strike?

If the police don't police aren't they already on strike?

Last week saw the unlawful strike action by prison officers. Now the police want to jump up on the bandwagon and are calling for the right to strike. It is just as well that their pay is not performance related, because the taxpayers would be getting a hefty refund. When the police begin to police then we'll talk about whether they deserve a pay rise. Presently, I feel that we are being robbed. More to the point, might I ask when do the police intend to end their strike action?

I don't think it's exactly the police officers who don't want to police, but more that Force Senior Management don't allow them to do so.

And yet somehow I can't see them getting below inflation pay "awards" every year.

Sorry but I'm with the coppers on this one. They're just one more group of public sector workers that gets shat on from a great height by a government who know they've got us all over a barrel.

mousie: I agree it is a top down problem. But, like you see the patients in A&E, hands-on, we don't get to see the front line troops. I would like to see them on the beat.
