Serial killer nurse Allitt must serve 30 years
"The serial killer nurse Beverly Allitt, must serve a minimum of 30 years in jail for the murder and abuse of children in her care, the high court ruled today".
Given that she was sentenced to 13 life sentences, it might be argued that 30 years takes care of 1 of the 13 life sentences, but what about the other 12? It is no wonder that the public lose confidence in the Criminal Justice System when the figures don't add up.

Great how a Christian country our legislature prays before every sitting - omits from its penal policy the very tenets of that faith, redemption through repentance, what we now call rehabilitation. The judge today basically said that Allit is a nutter but a bad nutter, a sadistic nutter -not you would think, too hard a judgement to arrive at, given her offences - but her nuttiness was of such a wicked nature as to be unforgiveable (as though it were voluntary) and should not be considered when setting her tarrif.
What makes extra gloomy reading is that even an eminent penal reformer such as yourself joins the clamour for indefinite punishment, for condemnation without relief. Maybe you will be setting up a Rule 43 Section on your blog. For the untouchables. Nothing worse than a reformed anything, eh?
Anyone up for a bit of satire. Here is my attempt.
