One more chance for addict with 175 crimes
"A serial petty thief convicted for the 175th time at a total cost to the taxpayer of more than £700,000, has been spared jail despite carrying out her latest crime while on bail.
Joanne Jones, 31, a heroin addict, has been in trouble continually for 15 years, attending 200 court hearings and going to jail 34 times.
But she was spared a further sentence after a magistrate, Neil Hubbard, said there was a "chink of light" that suggested she might be better off free".
