Firing squad in the firing line

Firing squad in the firing line

Unarmed and naked in bed, obviously he was not pleased to see the armed police in his bedroom. Could it have been a piss stalk that the police officer mistook for a gun?

I think if one is dead, it's awfully hard coming back from there.

I couldn't think what else the marksman might have mistaken for a gun pointing at him...

Why were armed Police required to arrest him? Did he have history?

snafu: Apparently "incorrect intelligence reports suggested he might be armed" (source BBC). The Chief Constable resigned over the issue.

It would appear either the police officer had a trigger finger or he got himself into a panic and shot first.

He had form. But, remember the Brazilian electrician didn't and he was still shot on the basis of incorrect intelligence and panic.

In my experience, the police go in heavy then assess the situation and respond accordingly. When I ask the police why, I am simply told "because we have the power".

This was an abuse of power and it proved fatal.

kimberly: I could always hire a uniform, but I would use my own weapon which has a barrel of at least 6 inches...
