Tony McNulty, the Home Office Minister, should do the right thing and apologise for his comment and resign. According to him Learco Chindamo "had forfeited his rights because of the "heinous" nature of the crime he committed". The St Germain, and Raymond v Honey cases have decided that prisoners retain all those rights not expressly removed by statute or case law. The European Convention on Human rights guarantees human rights to those citizens, including prisoners, of signatory nations. Then there is the Human Rights Act 1998 which Labour introduced, and this guarantees prisoners human rights. As Tony McNulty is a member of the Labour Party, he should be aware of this. As a Home Office Minister Tony McNulty should be aware of this. If he is not aware of this then he should not be in the office. If he disagrees with prisoners having rights which is not only Labour policy but also the legal position, then he should resign. A Minister who gives a knee-jerk response to the media is not fit for purpose and should resign.
Tony McNulty because he is a Minister in the Home Office which is a public authority is breaking the law: "There shall be no interference by a public authority with the exercise of this right except such as is in accordance with the law and is necessary in a democratic society in the interests of national security, public safety or the economic well-being of the country, for the prevention of disorder or crime, for the protection of health or morals, or for the protection of the rights and freedoms of others".
Jack Straw should also consider his position as Minister of Justice, because as Home Secretary, he misled Frances Lawrence that Learco Chindamo would be deported. It was not in his power to mislead her, nor within his power to deport Mr Chindamo. As Minister of Justice, last night he lied to the nation on Channel 4 by claiming that he had been lied to by the system.

McNulty is not fit for purpose. Unless that purpose is affecting stupid dog whistling and replacing Geoff "Buff" Hoon as government doh! brain in chief. The Westminster Village idiot. No offence.
I think his purpose probably is a "run cover" and do the dog whistle ting. So I refute your argument.
He should be kept on indefinitely as he is doing just what it says on the tin: "Reactionary Idiocy".
Tony McTucky made a crass and perverse comment earlier in the immigration case of Farhat Khan and Family.
He is also a desperate snout cast who cannot even kick addiction to cigarettes but instead skulks around drawing poison from the weed.
And I swear I saw him once appearing to nick someone's taxi with what looked very much like "I'm late 'cos I've just been having a snide fag and I'm a minister so you can wait you sad civilian."
