Army 'doesn't know how to treat prisoners'
"British troops sent to Iraq received inadequate training on how to deal with civilian prisoners, a damning report into allegations of abuse against Iraqi detainees has said".
This is hardly surprising given that the government, Minister of Justice, and the Prison Service haven't got much of a clue either.

Soldiers are the wrong people to be dealing with prisoners, civilian or combat, in my opinion anyway.
It was the lack of forward planning that resulted in not having a "police" force to take on this aspect of post invasion operations.
barnacle bill: They did a good job of it in HMP Frankland in the late 80s when it opened and the prison officers refused to man it. However, when they pulled out, the Prison Service had to replace everything they nicked!
Typical squadies - unless it's nailed down!
