Prisoners must earn release, says Cameron
"The Conservative leader David Cameron today pledged a prisons policy where inmates have to "earn their release" as he unveiled plans to build 5,000 additional jail places".
Psssst! Dave, we already have a minimum before prisoners can be released and a maximum, so what is different about your suggested policy? Answers on a post-card please. And only 5,000 new prison places? If we are going to embark on a prison building programme, which I do not accept is the right answer, 5,000 is at least 15,000 too few.
