McCanns: Never mind writing a book, they should be brought to book

McCanns: Never mind writing a book, they should be brought to book

The latest money making scheme the McCanns have come up with to profit from the disappearance of Madeleine is to publish a book. It is claimed that: "The couple are determined to counter many of the false stories which have been circulating since their daughter disappeared in Praia da Luz on May 3 last year". But what about the false stories circulated by the McCanns themselves? For example, the fictional break in which the police discovered never happened? This puts the McCanns firmly in the frame for having killed and disposed of Madeleine's body. Why else would they invent a fictional account?

It is understood that the McCanns intend to use a ghost writer. What a shame that the ghost of Madeleine will not be able to set the record straight.

I find it annoying that Clarence Mitchell refers to "the night Madeleine was kidnapped" as though it was a fact that Madeleine was kidnapped. Let us not forget that this is only the McCanns version of events. The evidence does not support this. It is pure spin coming from a spin doctor who's job it is to sell fiction as though it was the truth. Another annoying comment coming from the lips of Clarence Mitchell is in relation to "Goncalo Amaral plans to publish his own book about the case", and that is "an attempt to make money out of the situation". From the word go the McCanns have made money out of the situation. It was not that long ago that they milked money from the findmadeleinefund to pay for their mortgage on their house in Rothley.

Maybe I'm being pedantic here but... if they cannot write the book themselves because this would contravene the Portuguese judicial secrecy legislation, would not spilling the beans to a "ghost" writer enabling them to do likewise also fall equally foul of the applicable law?

By the way have they ever explained or been confronted on the contradictions over the initial claims of a supposed "break-in"?

With you on this, John. The Azaria case in Oz was never cut and dried and the dilemma still exists - did the parents kill the child or not.

With the McCanns, despite the media hype, most people have an opinion and it appears to be largely negative. This is not the same situation as Azaria.

So to profit from this really makes one wonder.

The whole McCann affair has had the smell of rotting fish from the very beginning.
The writing of this book whilst the case is very much open is another questionable aspect of this scandal.
When, oh when, are Leicestershire social services going to get their act together, and at least charge the McCanns with child neglect?
There is enough evidence to be going on with that charge, which might prove to the Tapas Seven that telling the truth is best course of action now.
Also charging the McCanns might be the way of breaking the logjam in this case.
I'm glad Richard & Judy have moved away from Channel Four, it would have been sickening to see the McCanns promoting their lies with that pair of dimwits.

Haven't they got it the wrong way around?

The Film comes out this Wednesday, before the book is even written.

For a couple who want to keep their twin children out of the news and give them a "normal" life, they seem to be incredibly inept.

richard: I don't think you are being pedantic. From the outset the McCanns have flouted the secrecy laws, and this is just another example.

I suspect that one of the police questions that they failed to answer would have been in relation to why they felt they needed to fabricate the break in story. I have come across an admission from the McCanns that it wasn't true. They were forced to change their story.

semaj mahgih: I do not have any evidence that the McCanns did kill Madeleine. However, I do have evidence which disproves their version that Madeleine was abducted. Therefore, the onus is upon the McCanns to explain what happened in apartment 3 A.

barnacle bill: I have heard that the Leicestershire police are investigating the McCanns because they are not satisfied with their version of events.

They certainly taking their time to do that investigation then. Here in Oz, it would of been dealt with real quick, but then again, the aussie authorities are notorious for stuffing things up and in quite a few cases, nabbing an innocent and letting a guilty party to child abuse go free, sometimes, too late.
