Anyone watching Kenneth Clarke when he last appeared before the Joint Committee of Human Rights, would have noticed that he had a very good liquid lunch before attending the session.
Now he has stumbled drunk out of his Ministerial car and bumped his head on the pavement and received a black eye.
It might be recalled the the former LibDem leader Charles Kennedy was politically assassinated by Nick Clegg, Vince Cable and Menzies Campbell, for allegedly hitting the bottle.
