Moderation and not draconian response is they key
I wish that the media would get a grip of itself and stop trying to terrorise us with false reporting of events. They were not car bombs in London. They were failed incendiary devices. The jeep incident at Glasgow Airport was successful in that it at least caught fire. The matter was dealt with swiftly by the police. Now, let's move on with our lives.
There is no need for a terrorist threat critical level alert. It is nonsense to claim that "It has forced police and the Government to take the draconian step of closing off all forecourts at airports". The government is draconian by choice. Nobody has twisted its arm and forced it to overreact. It chooses to target innocent civilians and disrupt their lives. It is doing the work of terrorists for them. Given that it is the fear rather than the actual act which is the threat, it requires moderate response from the government and not kneejerkism to deal with it.
Hat-Tip to Charon QC for this view which reflects my own opinion.

I agree with all you say. You have put your case (and mine) well. Nothing to add
