Green/Galley affair: When thieves fall out...
'Tory Leaks' Official Speaks Out
The civil servant linked to the arrest of Tory frontbencher Damian Green has denied any wrongdoing.
Christopher Galley appeared at a media conference but did not speak himself.
His lawyers made a statement saying that the 26-year-old, who was arrested last week, had done nothing wrong.
The statement said: "If ever there was a case of 'Don't shoot the messenger', this was it."
Solicitor Neil O'May told the conference that his client had given information to Mr Green in the belief that it would be used in a "responsible manner in the public interest".
He said those who had initiated the police investigation and sanctioned the arrests "should consider whether this was a necessary and appropriate way of dealing with this kind of allegation".
The arrest of Tory immigration spokesman Mr Green, whose home, constituency office and Parliamentary office were all searched, has cause uproar among MPs.
