Presumably we should ahve let Saddam hussein off as the chances of him committing genocide again (with the chattels of power) were very small ?

The fact is that Biggs is an old prisoner because hen he was young he chose to go on the run and take the mickey out of the justice system.

Now if he had accepted his punishment as a younger man he would now be free.

Let us also not forget why he returned to the UK. To use the NHS.

Sorry, but I think he did the crime and must serve his time.

Nich: Yes he did the crime, and has served the time if it is taken into consideration he is eligible for parole at the third stage of a 30 year sentence.

He did escape, and has successfully evaded capture. I would assume he was charged for breaching Prison Rules and punished for the escape.

Perhaps, they do not have a national health service in Brazil, or Biggs did not qualify for free treatment. What better than to return to dear old blighty in one's twilight years?

Is there such a thing as an illiberal liberal?
