Gay bar row over 'straight' sign

A complaint has been made to police over a banner declaring a former gay bar in Sunderland city centre has now gone "straight".

This is a queer one. It is ok to advertise a bar as gay, but it is not ok to advertise a former gay bar as straight? I thought the opposite of gay is straight? If advertising as gay is not offensive, I fail to see how advertising as straight is offensive. People who would normally not visit the bar because it is gay surely need to notice that its new owners were seeking a different clientele?

Very queer indeed. PC gone mad. The same kind of logic that applauds the "bravery" of someone who ditches an opposite sex partner having discovered that they are actually homosexual, but accuses a homosexual who decides to change their mind and follow the path of heterosexuality as being "in denial".

Ho hum, signs of our times. There's nowt as queer as folk!

Maybe they should just have advertised it as 'Happy now?'.

Oh no, John. Using the word straight brands you as a fascist racist sexist unreconstructed gay mafia basher.
