David Davis reduced to begging for cabinet job

David Davis, who stunned the Conservative leadership last year by quitting as shadow Home Secretary, today signalled he wanted to return to the political frontline.

So, which jobs in cabinet are not proper jobs?

We could do much worse than have David Davis as Home secretary.

I think Alan Johnson is doing a good job of that at the moment...

Yes Alan Johnson is doing a good job, a very good job IMHO. But if we do have a change of government which looks most likely then David Davis as far as I can see would be a good replacement.

Like Johnson, Davis is a council estate lad so he is well aware of real life.

This is all conjecture at the moment though as Grayling is pencilled in for that job.

I have reservations about Davis. As for Grayling, perhaps the pencil should be shoved up his arse! His soundbite on raising prison population to 100,000 is business motivated. Aitken and his chum are pushing their private prison design.
