Cabinet Office lies to media over Hague's "Special Adviser" Chris Myers

Cabinet Office lies to media over Hague's "Special Adviser" Chris Myers

The Cabinet Office has lied to the media over the stated reason why Chris Myers was not included on the list within the Written Ministerial Statement on Special Adviser numbers, costs and revised model contract and code of conduct.

The Guardian reports...

"Hague's office today confirmed that Myers, who yesterday quit citing the pressure of speculation surrounding the nature of his relationship with the foreign secretary, was appointed on 24 May. But the official list naming all special advisers and their salary brackets did not include Myers when it was published on 10 June.

The cabinet office said that Myers's name was not included because although he had been appointed, he had not started the job by 10 June".

You will note that the list includes the name Richard Reeves followed by a footnote number 1.

Scroll down to the foot note...

"Notes:

1. Takes up post with effect from 5 July".

Therefore if Richard Reeves was included and yet he was not in post by June 10, surely Chris Myers should also have been included on the list?
