Leapy Lee a one hit wonder commits a blunder!
LEAPY LEE is not correct to praise David Cameron for the decision not to allow prisoners the right to vote (Issue 1337).
It was the European Court - not the ‘left wing prats’ - in Brussels who determined that UK prisoners should have the right to vote.
David Cameron did not attend the debate in the House of Commons on this issue. What was granted by all political parties is that MPs should have a Free Vote with no guidance.
It therefore follows that the Prime Minister did not record a vote in the lobby for or, against the European Court decision.
The decision of Parliament was to ignore the European Court
A High Court judge would not allow a legal challenge by prisoners to overturn that decision.
This meant that many in the legal profession were not able to claim huge fees through the legal aid system to line their pockets
Brian Veal, Benalmadena Costa
Leapy Lee says: Nitpicking nonsense. I did say Strasbourg judges. I did not say Cameron voted. Brussels is full of left wing prats and the legal profession cashing in on just about everything has been a feature of the column on numerous occasions.
