Somalia the under reported war

Somalia the under reported war.

"Mark Doyle gains rare access to the Somalian capital of Mogadishu, the epicentre of the violence in the country.

The United Nations says it is probably the most difficult place in the world for humanitarian workers to operate in - where three million people are in dire need of aid".

I was moved by this report on Newsnight last night and felt the issues deserved wider attention.

jailhouselawyer,

An absolute travesty ... poor souls, the victims of corrupt administration.

John,

Bears no comparison to the use of the word 'poverty' in Britain, does it ?

I am shocked that our government are actually trying to deport people to Somalia.

Perhaps the most upsetting aspect is the apparent utter stupidity of the judge, "These experiences [criminal activity] will place him at a distinct advantage in dealing with the circumstances in Somalia and should make it much easier for him to avoid pitfalls."

Pitfalls? Broken pavments are pitfalls; civil war, severe droughts and floods and three million people in dire need of aid, pirates throwing hundreds of refugees off boats to drown are not what I would term "pitfalls" where a little bit of street savvy might be useful.

OK so I don't know what his crimes were but this chap must have had some really amazing experiences as even the UN are scared of sending in peace keeping troops!

He really will be at a distinct advantage - he doesn't even speak the language FFS!

It almost looks as if the Labour Party have managed to impose the death penalty by outsourcing.
