Full Scale Security Review Underway in Prison Service

Full Scale Security Review Underway in Prison Service

Breaking News

It is understood that a full scale security alert has been launched by the Prison Service. A reliable source has stated that Phil Wheatley, Director General of the National Offender Management Service (NOMS), emailed Steve Wagstaffe, Director of High Security, who's sphere of influence covers Security Group; Security Policy Unit; Extremism Unit; Police Advisors Section; National Operations Unit; and National Intelligence Unit.

The full scale security alert has been sparked by fears that High Profile Prisoners, such as terrorists, suspected terrorists, Super Grasses, those involved in major bank robberies, and serious sex offenders, may come under sniper fire whilst in custody like happened very recently in a prison in France.

Some of those prisons subjected to the security review are Belmarsh; Frankland; Full Sutton; Long Lartin; Manchester; Wakefield; Whitemoor and Woodhill. It is worth noting that prisons such as Wormwood Scrubs and Wandsworth are particularly vulnerable because they are overlooked by blocks of flats and would provide a high vantage point for a sniper. Whereas Belmarsh is reasonably secure because much of the movement to and from the court etc, is done by a series of tunnels.

UPDATE: A media source has informed me that according to the press office no such security review is underway. I am puzzled by this official denial.

I phoned GSL and asked what security measures they intended taking and was informed "Sorry, we cannot go into that".

When paranoia takes over, common sense will be the real prisoner in those establishments.

Acts of reprisal not only apply to prisoners .... what goes around comes around.

jailhouselawyer,

According to independent studies, terrorism is the price being paid for labour/Bush's illegal invasion of Iraq.

Statesmen consider the last step in a war before taking the first .....

Amid the financial crisis from maladministration, economists confirm neither US nor Britain could afford the war.
