Sir Ian Blair to quit Scotland Yard
"The Daily Telegraph understands that Sir Ian was facing possible suspension from office over an investigation into the awarding of £3 million worth of lucrative Met police contracts to a friend and skiing companion".
I wonder how much of a kick back he received out of the £3M? In any event, good riddance to bad rubbish!

We’re picking up rumours here at Coffee House that – following the Mail’s splash about the how Sir Ian Blair awarded his mate a £15,000 “contract” to improve his image – the Met commissioner has decided to resign and may do so at 4pm this afternoon. Watch this space.
We already know that Iain Dale is a hypocrite and a liar. Now we know he is a thief of other blogs content and passing it off as his own work.

I expect the truth will out after Labour's ousted and Sir Ian Blair writes his autobiography.
Physically impossible to "nick" a blog within a minute - Dale and CoffeeHouse would have heard it at the same time and he pushed the button a few seconds later.
With the speed of the internet, a minute in politics is a long time.
Personally I think Blair saw the writing on the wall, realized if he didn't jump now he might loose everything when all those gathering storm clouds broke over him.
This way he gets out looking like Boris is the big bad wolf, and probably a very nice lump sum golden good-bye to go with his pension.
BB: I was wondering if he would get a golden handshake for leaving early.

Not so, Alsabella's blog was immediately siezed/frozen.
Sir Ian Blair has suffered almost as much scurrilous unsubstantiated media reporting as PJ & Mr Amaral.
It seems all three were victims of 'faceless cowards'. The McCanns case has shown the 'dirty tricks' laborites apply when looking after their own.
Strange that Jacqui Smith has not been forced to resign since the Judge ruled her actions in the Ghurka's case "unlawful".

Labour wanted Sir Ian 'out'prior to expiration of a legal agreement - contract of employment for political reasons yet to come to light.
For political reasons, Boris was made the scapegoat amid labour's subtefuge. They govern on the basis of spin and lies ....

Labour won't want Sir Ian 'spilling the political beans' after forcing him out. The bullies may want an undemocratic 'gagging order'.

Sir Ian Blair is due a public apology from those who dragged him over the coals as a result of the incident.
In fact, the Home Office is responsible for ensuring his reinstatement as Head of the Police until such time as his contract expires. Sir Ian Blair confirmed he did not resign, but was 'fired'; London's Mayor lacked the right to such action.

Would you relinquish a 'top job' achieved from a lifetime of dedication and service for no good reason ? I doubt it and neither would anyone else.
Sir Ian has since confirmed he was 'fired' - how come ? The Home Office cannot allow sacking without proof positive of Sir Ian breaking the legal terms of his post as contractually agreed. It's the government's jurisdiction not the Mayor's.
A Judge ruled in the recent Ghurka case that Jacqui Smith had acted "unlawfully". The Home Office was directly involved in Sir Ian's departure.
