Corrupt drugs detective 'sold underworld secrets to pay off debt'
A drugs squad detective, Philip Berry, sold a valuable contacts book containing the personal details of the criminal underworld to pay off his credit card debt, a court heard.
The corrupt 42 year-old PC fell heavily into debt after his overtime was cut by Greater Manchester Police in punishment for his accessing “inappropriate” websites.
As a result he then sold the confidential details to drug dealer Gary Knox, 34, in return for thousands of pounds in cash, luxury cars and tickets to Premier League games.
