Hedge hog fined £2,000 for breaching ASBO
Scott Johnston, 51, and his wife Nicola, 48, were each fined £1,000 after their conifers grew up to 19ft tall leading to a complaint from a neighbour.
The couple, from Eckington, Worcs, were taken to court by Wychavon District Council after initially being given an Asbo in 2008.
They refused to cut down the hedge, which borders five other homes, to a maximum height of 13ft after a neighbour complained that it was blocking out the light into their garden.
Worcester Magistrates Court found them guilty of breaching the Asbo and fined them the maximum £2,000 as well as a £30 victim surcharge and court costs of £845.
However, the couple claimed that the neighbour who had made the complaint had since moved out and they had assumed the matter had been laid to rest.
