A mixture of law, politics, autobiography and humour. Once described as "The Devilish Advocate"
(Guardian), I do have the ability to provoke a response. Sometimes it comes from someone who uses a thought process, and sometimes from jerks usually associated with the knee.
And I thought England was the last place in the civilised world where the law permitted a parent to slap their offspring!
I imagine she apologised for dragging the police in and blowing the whole thing up out of all proportion, not for having been slapped. Either smacking is allowed or it is not, I, personally, am against, but if the law permits it...
Richard: It used to be the case that a parent could reasonably chastise a child. This seems like he lost it and lashed out, rather than punishment. I am against it because it teaches children that violence is the answer. If a parent marks a child then it is taken more seriously.
