Anne Dixon you are a twat

Anne Dixon you are a twat

Anne Dixon, 55, of Stanley, County Durham, you are a twat! Contrary to your opinion, that you are not a prude, you are a prude.

As a result of this one old bag complaining, when 28,000 other people didn't, ASDA has done the unthinkable and asked the publisher's Random House to substitute the word twat for twit in the best-selling book My Sister Jodie by Jacqueline Wilson.

A knee-jerk response in political correctness gone mad, and corporate business buckles to pander to a dissenting voice. Thank goodness court decisions are not overturned from the majority to the minority.

She isn't, Asda are. I say let's boycott Asda unless they give us all nice stuff for free, then they can alter whatever they want and I'll back them wholeheartedly. We want free stuff, when do we want it ? We want it now !

I'm a Geordie ron, bet you'd not say that at one of our footie games, you'd recognize our lads we'd be the ones who in the middle of winter are waving our shirts about. You see we feel no pain, come and join us daft lad, we'll make you welcome, honest we will.

jailhouselawyer,

Well said.

What, exactly, does the Labour term 'political correctness' mean and encompass ?

Does this 'term' give the Government the right to monitor and quash public opinion and comments not to their 'political' liking ? Results show, yes this is true.

Authors and publishers have the right to print whatever they wish in line with the laws of publishing.

In real terms, the introduction of 'political correctness' is the first step to losing our right to free speech and thinking.

As oppression of the British and our way of life continues, I wonder how long it will be before the Labour Party or the EU will be monitoring what we eat !!

I was horrified by a recent report of Councils considering taking obese children away from their families.

Commonsense and human rights seem no longer to be part of the Government's thinking, or lack of.

Obesity has many causes; ignorance, emotional and sometimes medical. Britain is fast becoming dehumanized and subjected to Nazi style attitudes and dictates.

Educate or assist, don't punish and rip families apart. Too many are already broken.

Meanwhile, John Prescott continues to stuff his face with fish and chips three times a week, whilst claiming to be bulimic. His size confirms he has no conflict where food is concerned - bulimia is vomitting due to guilt, a dreadful illness.

No, Labour spinner Prescott was trying to justifying 'expense' - a staggering £4,000 for food.

Is this political correctness ??

"A Council has spent £5,000 sending its boss on a "self-awareness" course in Florida and Germany run by a former Scientologist missionary. Dr Alison Frazer, £140,000-a-year chief of Labour-controlled Sandwell Council in the West Midlands, will be taught how to become (wait for it!) MORE REAL AND AUTHENTIC AND GAIN A CONNECTION WITH THE UNDEFINED SELF".

Complete and utter lunacy.

ron knee,

I agree, it doesn't ring true or make sense.

Asda may, if they so wished, referred the complaint back to the publisher/author. One complaint would not affect book sales/profits would it ?

So a supermarket tells a publisher what it can publish. Welcome to business-friendly Britain.
