Record payout for false imprisonment
Given that the Home Office has agreed that £700,000 compensation should be awarded to Colin Stagg for a year in custody, surely that means Barry George should be entitled to at least £5.5M? And, the Birmingham 6 etc ought to receive top up payments taking them to at least £10M!

I wouldn't disagree with you, John. But I suspect the difference was that in their case they were found guilty (albeit wrongly) by a jury of their peers. Stagg wasn't.
Bob: I am aware Colin Stagg was not actually convicted. About the time the B6 got their initial payments, I read about an American who got $6M for 2 years false imprisonment.
