European Court of Human Rights rejects David Miliband's attempt to deport terrorist suspects to be tortured
"Britain’s efforts to deport terrorist suspects including the radical Muslim cleric Abu Qatada were dealt a serious blow by the European Court of Human Rights yesterday".
"Britain, which is seeking to send Abu Qatada to Jordan, had intervened in the case in the hope that the court would back the return of suspects regardless of their home country’s human rights record.
Ministers argued that the right of the British public to be protected against terrorism should be balanced against suspects’ right not to be illtreated on their return home. But the court rejected the Government’s argument and ruled that the protection against torture is absolute".
Isn't it time that David Miliband and Jack Straw resigned for their support for the use of torture?

Milliband is certainly more than indifferent to the fate of people who he wishes to remove from the UK to countries which practice torture, being not only willing to rely (if the courts will let him) on the paper assurances of governments that are known to use torture that they will not do so, but prepared to spend our taxpayers' money in trying to get the European Court of Justice to agree that such behaviour would be legal. The case he intervened in did not even involve the UK; it was about a deportation from Italy of a man called Saadi to Tunisia. Luckily the Court would have none of it.

What a horror of a country we are.
Not allowing freedom and rights to everyone.
We should let all walks of life walk free, empty the prisons, that will save some money.
It seems amazing that some people can jump up and down like demented rabbits, when the interests of someone who's sole purpose is to create terror and death on innocent people should be protected at the cost of those who he plans to destroy!
The question for me has this man committed a crime? Is he being imprisoned? Is he a British National?
I talk without great knowledge and only what I have caught on TV and online.
There are always two sides to an arguement and I guess I sit on the other side.
