Either do the job or let someone else do it...
This is getting pathetic. Health and Safety legislation is just getting abused. Never mind the good will gesture, the postal service is liable and should be sued for more money. It might be that the postman was also throwing letters away rather than delivering them.
A mixture of law, politics, autobiography and humour. Once described as "The Devilish Advocate" (Guardian), I do have the ability to provoke a response. Sometimes it comes from someone who uses a thought process, and sometimes from jerks usually associated with the knee.

Strange how these things happen. Just to say our postie delivers up a long rutted lane, doesn't mind the dogs, if the house is open puts the letters behind the door, if we are out puts parcels in oubuildings and a note to say so and if we are not around for a first thing special delivery calls in later as he is going off shift to save us a trip to the sorting office.
I suspect the postie in your blog is working to post office rules and ours is not.
